About Us

The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) is the leading professional association for individuals responsible for generating philanthropic support for a wide variety of not-for-profit, charitable organizations. Founded in 1960, the Association advances philanthropy through its more than 20,000 members in 154 chapters throughout North America. The International Headquarters is located in Alexandria, Virginia.

The local chapter, AFP/Colorado Chapter started in the late '70s as the Colorado Association of Fund Raisers (CAFR). The membership now consists of over 300 members. The chapter offers eight educational sessions each year and publishes a monthly newsletter, Compendium.

Goals for the chapter include:

  • Serve as the umbrella organization for all fund development professionals and be recognized as the expert on philanthropic giving
  • Provide education and advocacy to the Colorado community on the role and importance of fund development in philanthropy and the nonprofit sector
  • Provide education to the fund development professional on the process and ethics of fundraising
  • Provide ethics in philanthropic fund raising and giving
